Not me! Monday

Ah, another week and I remembered to do Not me! Monday!! YIPPEE! It is frigid outside and I wish I was at home sleeping in my warm bed right now, but to pass the time I will blog for your entertainment :) Let's see, what did I not do this week?

I did not spill coffee on myself at work twice in one week. The first was not at a staff meeting in front of all my colleagues on a very white shirt! The second was again not on a white shirt that did not come out with all the water I threw on it. I did not sit at the front desk all day with a huge coffee stain on my shirt! I am not a clutz!

I did not watch lifetime movies ALL DAY yesterday! I also did not coax Phill into sitting through one as well :) He did not make wise cracks through the whole thing.

Saturday, whilst Christmas shopping for Phill, I did not get lost. The directions were simple and I'd been there before!! I did not end up on the complete wrong side of town. And after 45 minutes of searching I did not get to my destination only to find they were CLOSED!! Anyone care to buy me a GPS thing for Christmas? Anyone?!? I have an awesome sense of direction ;) Ever seen the episode of Friends when they are in London and Joey gets into his map?!? Yeah, I made my friend Jenny do that while I was out in New York visiting her. It was pretty comical if you had been there!
Truth be told, I am a lot like Joey and his map. If I don't know where I am I have to remember exactly which way I turned to get back out b/c I do not know my Never Eat Shredded Wheat! I have not gotten lost in Mount Pleasant, IA in the circle subdivisions!

Yesterday, I did not stay in my pj's all day! Then on Phill and I's 8:45pm run to Target when they close at 9pm I did not make him wait b/c I needed to put a dab of makeup on to cover my nasty Aunt Flo zits. Then at the last minute I did not run back into the apartment to throw a bra on for fear of us getting into an accident and worrying about what the rescue guys would think! Target is only A BLOCK AWAY! Nope, not me!

I did not get up at 3:30am this morning and sit on the couch afraid of the dark for a half hour by myself. It was so windy lastnight that the power went out. I woke up to Phill snoring at 3:30am. I have a big box fan I use to drown out his snores and when the power went off he woke me. I did not get up to investigate, grab flashlights, and go outside in the hall to make sure it wasn't just our apartment. I did not worry that I didn't pay the electric bill!

Okay that's all I've got for today! PLEASE leave me some comments. I only got 1 from last Monday :( I promise to leave you some comments if you leave me some!

A Hilarious Mistype

So I'm talking to my mamasita on msn mere minutes ago about a new mattress and bed for her house. She only has two twin beds upstairs so when Phill & I come back to Iowa and stay at her house we push the two twin mattresses together on the floor and make do. It's not very comfortable at all! So anyways she is buying us a full sized bed so we can stay together more often when we come home. I'm telling her to not get too expensive of one since we aren't there all that often. Here's how it went down:

Carol says:
found mattress today so were going to tal;k about that

Calie says:
make it cheap lay

Carol says:
Calie your not a cheap lay

Calie says:
hehe

Calie says:
didn't mean to put that

Calie says:
your a silly panties

Carol says:
Wasn't that funny

Calie says:
yes

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! My silly panties Mamasita said that! Love her lots!

Not Me Monday

2nd edition of Not Me Monday. I missed it last week and I was very sad on Tuesday. I considered doing one on Tuesday and pretending it was Monday. Well here it goes!

Last week, I did not buy a $125 Guess purse from www.Zappos.com. I would never spend that much money on a bag, NEVER! I did not excuse the huge purchase by telling Phill that I returned a pair of $83 shoes to them so I had to use the store credit! This was not a lie, I could not have gotten the money put back on my credit card to spend on non frivolous things. I did not avoid telling him how much it was for days.

Lastnight at Applebee's I did not order their Chicken Broccoli Pasta Alfredo without the broccoli. No, only REALLY picky people do that sort of thing! I have never been that way. Nope, not me.

Yesterday while making banana chocolate chip muffins I did not use really old brown sugar instead of going out to buy new fresh sugar. It wasn't that hard, it just wouldn't move at all when you shook the canister. I didn't have to hammer it out with a knife to make the 1/2 cup I needed. I also did not use this same hard brown sugar to make lil' cheddar meatballs on Friday night and neglect to get new stuff at the store on Saturday while grocery shopping. Not, not me, because I of course make grocery shopping lists the night before ;) Also, while making the muffins I did not steal baking soda out of our refrigerator fresh baking soda pack. I did not have to cut through the mesh to get at this baking soda to keep myself from having to make a trip to the store. I do not make do with just about anything!

Saturday night I did not start putting up the Christmas tree decorations and decor at 10:30pm. No way, I did not procrastinate all day and not finish until 1am.

Yesterday, Phill and I did not put up Christmas lights outside while it was pouring down snow. No way, we are smarter than that and decided to wait until a warmer day. I also did not spend 40 minutes outside trying to get the icicle light to twinkle! 4 strands and I got 3 to work!

Phill and I have not had to run to Target about 5 times this weekend because we forgot things for our holiday decorating. Our lights weren't long enough, we didn't have a splitter to connect more than one string of lights to an outlet, etc. etc.

Lastly, I am not addicted to Welch's Strawberry pop which is so terribly bad for you with all its sugars and artificial flavors! I do not ask Phill to pick me one up at the gas station every other night on his way home from work and get one EVERY time I go to Target. No way, I have way more self control than that!

That's all today! Leave me some comments about your not me's of the last week. I love seeing and reading comments and I don't get very many:( I do not check them quite often;)

Thanksgiving Weekend Update A Little Late

Long time no update! I dread coming back to work after a long weekend. This week has been sooooooo looooooong! I am living on coffee and after work naps. Yes Phill & I do take naps about 3 nights a week. They are wonderful and I dread the day we have to give them up, that day called parenthood! Not that I'm not excited for parenthood but I love my naps for now and will continue until that day comes! Okay so on to Thanksgiving weekend and all of it's excitement!

***********************************************************************************
We went home on Wednesday about midday thinking we could sneak out of the city before traffic. WRONG! Though Phill did learn his lesson and drive this time. Traffic was BAD so I slept through it and listened to Phill pipe up about every 10 minutes! We got home at a decent time and I went over to my sisters to bake pies with her and my friend Joy who is also my sister's sister-in-law. We made yummy apple pie and pumpkin pie. We had leftover pumpkin filling so we filled a pie pan with no crust and baked that. It was quite yummy but looked like baby food on our plates! For some reason this crapped my sister and I up and we stood in the kitchen scooping the baby food onto plates just busting a gut!

*************************************************************************************
Thursday was Thanksgiving and it was YUMMY! Mashed potatoes and gravy, egg noodles, stuffing, corn, chocolate pie, pumpkin pie, my mouth is watering all over again. I can do without the turkey, I never eat that on Thanksgiving, but nonetheless it was there. Top the yummy meal off with diet coke and grenadine! IT WAS GOOD! This was all at my Aunt Oove's house in the afternoon. Next, Phill & I went to his mom and dad's for dinner. This included mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, corn, pea salad, oh and yes, the turkey. Love Thanksgiving, it's my excuse to be a pig! Finally, I ended up at the Kelly household-my sister-in-law's for game night. We played Would You Rather and had a lot of fun. Would You Rather asks you questions like...Would You Rather On a first date, wear a T-shirt that says, "I'm With Stupid"
-OR-
a T-shirt that asks, "Who Cut the Cheese"?
It is very entertaining! I love games! I have a bunch but Phill doesn't enjoy them. When I come home I have to get my fill hehe Phill of them! My friends would always and still do play games when we get together so it's a tradition. The only time I can remember Phill really getting into games was with my friends a few years back. We were playing charades and it was boys against girls. We made up ridiculous things for the guys to act out and they were determined to win this game. Our tasks were a little bit easier to do and we were more experienced charades players anyways ;) Phill's turn was up and he went all out. By the time the games was over he had pit stains and was sweating profusely. My friends could not stop laughing at him!

So anyways Thanksgiving day was good but was not without it's problems. I have allergy asthma and am pretty much allergic to everything under the sun! Seriously, on our honeymoon we were right by the ocean in Jamaica and guess what, I was allergic to the ocean!! We went in to swim and came out to lay out on the beach chairs. I was itchy but didn't think anything of it. Phill looked over at me 5 minutes later and said "Honey, I think we need to go. You have hives all over!" I was covered in hives and looked very silly! We went straight to our hotel room where they were cleaning it so I had to wait 10 more minutes to get in the shower. Ugh! I am also super allergic to cats! My allergies haven't been with me all of my life. I started becoming allergic to everything at about 21 and it has progressively gotten worse. Along with allergies I have allergy asthma! When Phill & I first moved up here we brought along his childhood cat. For some reason I was fine with her, I would sneeze if I was around her like all day but it was no big deal. She passed aways a few years ago and a few months after that we picked up another kitten from Phill's aunt. We named her Ginger Anne Bloom and we love her. Unfortunately my nose does not. My allergy asthma took a turn for the worst when she moved in. I wanted so desperately to keep her and I suffered for a long time. Phill's mom had agreed to keep her for us so we could still see her when we came home. I would have her all ready to move to Iowa and then say NO she is not leaving and suffer for another week. Finally it got so bad that we did bring her to his moms. Problem now is his mom and dad had also brought home their own cat from her sister's house and Phill's sister did as well. So sometimes there are 3 cats at that house. His parents are truly wonderful though. Whenever I come over they clean the whole house, put the cats in the basement, and bring out the air purifier. They spent $200 on this air purifier last Christmas so I could be there with them! They are truly wonderful in-laws. So they did the same for Thanksgiving but for some reason my asthma flared up anyway. I only stayed for 2 hours and then had to leave b/c silly me didn't bring my emergency albuterol inhaler home! If I would have stayed to long it would have been bad. When I got to the Kelly's for game night I was breathing fine. About an hour in I was a mess again! They don't have any animals inside so I don't know what the deal was. They have cats living outside and in the garage so I have no idea what my deal was. I left there house wheezing and a mess. Phill stayed at my parents house that night and we were up almost all night! I couldn't breath and had no inhaler. I would doze off and wake up gasping for air. I called the ER asking if they could just give me an inhaler but that was a no go, the doctor would have to see me. Sorry not spending hundreds of dollars for a $6 inhaler. I made it through the night and took my Advair which is an everyday asthma controller and it kicked in within an hour. Scary night though.

************************************************************************************
Friday was Black Friday! My mom and I have went shopping together on this day for years! It is so fun! Weaving in and out of stores and all the craziness for some reason is fun for us. My sister has started going for the last 2 years and I secretly think she loves it too! I think I love it more for the time I have with my mom and sister rather than the bargains. We left our house at 4:30am and arrived at Wal-Mart around 5am. Wal-Mart was SCARY this year. Electronics was a zoo and pretty much a traffic jam at a stand still. Phill wanted a hard drive which I missed out on in the craziness. One guy in electronics yelled in the crowd, "Don't budge in line or it's going to get ugly!" Then some girl kept hitting my heels with her cart. I turned around and said "Excuse me!" She said "Well I need to get through" I said "Well so do I but nobody's moving so please stop!" JEEZ PEOPLE! Our next stop was Shopko who had the most efficient checkout lanes and was our fastest stop. They had a guy with a big balloon that marked the end of the line. You could see him from anywhere in the store. Good job Shopko!! Next was Target:( SLOWEST LINES EVER! We waited in line for 1 1/2 hours! Luckily Joy was working at Starbucks which had a line of it's own, but she was super friendly to all the customers and made me some YUMMY coffee. I only had Starbucks coffee about 3 times last weekend! Wow that's about $14 I spent on 3 cups of coffee! YIKES! Don't tell Phill b/c I have already had it 2 times this week! We then went out to eat breakfast at Hy-Vee and them my sister and I went on to shop at Kohl's and Target while my mom went home to rest. All in all it was a fun morning and I snagged the Sex & The City movie for $8 so I was happy. Also, my sister and I got bluetooth headsets for our cell phones and one for her hubby. We all had fun playing with those all weekend! "Are you talking on your tooth?" "Why yes I am" hehe There fun!

***********************************************************************************
Saturday I went shopping AGAIN with my sister. Yes, we went to Maurices and no the bill wasn't pretty. We walked out of there spending $198 and $120 respectively. Enough said about that!

***********************************************************************************
Sunday
was traveling day. It was snowing in Iowa so we decided to leave early. We took off at about noon and headed home. We made a quick stop in Cedar Falls to see my friend Danielle and her hubby. I hadn't seen her since the wedding and really miss her lots. We then started out again with me driving! EEK! I made it to Charles City which is about 45 mins. south of Mason City when the roads starting getting bad. I slowed down and was doing fine. I jumped onto I-35 N. when things got ugly. Phill was lying down in the passenger seat but awake because he knew I was nervous. I was going to take the next exit for gas and to switch drivers so the calm one in this relationship could drive us the rest of the way home. NOT SO FAST! So there is this bridge right when you get on 35 that is slicker than snot. I made it over the bridge when the SUV in front of me brakes suddenly. I precede to tap on the brakes and my little Olds and I lost control. I fish tailed all over the road and spun around the opposite way in the ditch! SCARY! I started balling my eyes out. Phill calmed me and we called AAA to come get us out. It was about a 30 minute wait but our car is not damaged and we are both okay. Phill did hurt his neck pretty bad though since he was originally laying back but when I started fish tailing an then he leaned up and had is neck unsupported. We almost hit a pole though so we are lucky we missed that. Once we had come to a stop you could see the pole out the side mirrors just feet away. A cop did come check on us too and waited on the shoulder until the tow truck came. 50+ cars ended up in ditches and medians just in Mason City alone that night!

*Funny story while we were waiting for the tow truck. We were waiting for Frank's Auto Repair & Towing Service. So it had been about 15 minutes and I saw a vehicle start driving towards the shoulder. I said "Is that Frank" Phill says "No honey, that's not Frank!" as the car drives straight into the ditch, whips around, and comes to a stop a few feet away from us! The guy was okay and later on when I realized what I had said, I couldn't stop laughing! After being pulled out it was 30mph for the next 45 minutes until we hit the Minnesota border. Once into Minnesota the roads weren't so bad. So all in all a 5 1/2 hour trip turned into an 8 hour one but we made it home safe so that's all that matters. Thank you God for protecting us!

************************************************************************************
This week
has been pretty boring. I have all of a sudden become more of a klutz than usual. Yesterday I was wearing a white shirt and spilled coffee all over me in our staff meeting. Ugh! This morning I have spilled coffee on my shirt 4 times already! Luckily I'm not wearing white today. But the coffee tastes very yummy. If you like flavored creamers you should try Italian Sweet Cream, it is sooooo good! Thanks sister Sam for introducing me to it! I still haven't put my Christmas decorations up yet. I do have the actual tree up but it's naked for now. I also just got a new purse from www.zappos.com. This place is awesome! You don't have to pay for shipping and I ordered it on Tuesday and got it on Wednesday! I have ordered from them 3 times now and every item I have received the very next day! They are where my famous green Nina's from my wedding day came from! Here is the purse and the famous green nina's-pic. taken by Shaina Pearce Photography:

So this post was really really long. I guess that's what happens when I don't update for over a week. We'll talk soon!

Not Me Monday

So I have been reading another blog http://www.mycharmingkids.net for a little while now. She is a mother of 4 and is very funny and real. She has an amazing story about her 4th child who is truly a miracle. Go read all about him! Every Monday she does a blog titled Not Me Monday. A way of being fearlessly honest about your week by covering it up with not me's and trying to look all innocent. So here's my first attempt at a Not Me Monday:

I did not put up my Christmas tree already last week, before Thanksgiving. I also did not have to read the instructions on how to put it together.

This weekend on our way to Phill's sisters I did not get confused in a roundabout and make the driver behind me very angry. Not me. I do not hate those awesome "supposedly" safer intersections. grrr.

I also did not wake up and startle my sleeping husband in the passenger seat by angrily yelling at drivers to GET OUT of the fast lane! No way, not me. I am a calm and sensible driver with absolutely NO road rage!

While at Phill's sisters for our annual pre-Thanksgiving bowling tournament, I most certainly did not bowl a 105 TWICE! No way, I bowl way better than that!

Lastnight, on our way home, I did not scream at the car (Phill) for Taco Bell putting lettuce on my tacos when I asked for no lettuce. The guy even repeated our order back to us and they still messed it up! And they most certainly did not put lettuce on it again when I took it back in for them to re-do. I most certainly did not tell Phill how horrible Taco Bell is and vow to never eat there again. I will not be eating there this Wednesday on our way back to Iowa for Thanksgiving! hehe

Lastly, this one is about Phill b/c it was so hilarious not to write about it. Phill did not slam full force into the door of a Kum & Go TWICE by failing to read the sign on the door that said PULL! He did not try one door and think it was broke and go to the next door doing the exact same thing again. I did not try and spit out in between doors "It says pull" but couldn't get it out b/c of all my laughter.

There was my first attempt. Go over to www.mycharmingkids.net and see what other people did not do this week! Have a great one!

Tired Tuesday

So, I really do mean to blog more but I guess my life is pretty boring as of late. Plus, last week was a pretty crappy week. I had crazy pains in my legs and was super tired. I did finally figure out the culprit to my ailments though and have stopped taking the med. I was on that was causing all of it. This week I am almost pain free! The weekend was awesome though! We FINALLY bought a vacuum! The Bissell Healthy Home Vacuum. And since we bought this particular vacuum from Target we got a $50 gift card! Our apartment was DISGUSTING!! Phill vacuumed it 5 TIMES and it's still picking stuff up! It is bagless and watching all that nastiness swirl around was gross. He had to empty the canister several times and tell me what he saw in it too! Thanks honey! Did I mention how amazing my husband is? He gained MAJOR bonus points this weekend:

-He vacuumed our apartment 5 times with the new vacuum between Saturday & Sunday. We got home with it and he immediately put it together and went to work. I didn't even ask! He may have been just as excited about a new vacuum as my mom got when she got a Dyson! He was so cute!
-Sunday he was trying to get stains out of our carpet with the good ol' Woolite and saw more crap accumulating by the floor boards. He grabbed the vacuum and was off again!
-He put up my new curtain rod and curtains which I love. Now instead of a comforter for our curtains we have actual pretty curtains!
-He made a yummy supper for us Sunday night. Cajun chicken, friend potatoes, and corn!
-He gave me a back massage with lotion on Friday night because I still felt crappy.

I love him lots! All of these things I didn't even ask him to do! While he was vacuuming on Saturday he let me go and spend money at Maurices! Okay, Maurices is my weakness. I LOVE that store. I could spend all day in that store and my whole bank account. My sister called on Saturday to tell me she had went to Maurices and what she got, etc. I HAD to go right? I did get a good deal though. I had a 20% off card and my punch card was full so that was an additional $10 off. I practically got one free shirt! Though, Maurices is way more fun when I'm with my sister Sam. She also has a Maurices weakness. We know almost all the ladies that work there at the one in Iowa where she lives. One sales girl in particular knows our tastes very well. We will go in and pick a few things out, go into the dressing room and start trying on. Within a few minutes the sales girl is throwing heaps of clothes over to us to also try on. Those are the times we cannot get out of that store for less than $70 a piece, know matter how many coupons we may have! Then we go home and have a fashion show for our mother. When she asks us how much each item was, we knock it down at least $5 or $10!! hehe I miss fashion shows:( I also miss shopping from my sisters closet :( Living far away sure does stink sometimes.

This week has been pretty uneventful so far. Our morning was less than perfect. Phill started drinking coffee all of a sudden which I think is the cutest! I now make coffee for the both of us every morning. We both really like cinnamon bun creamer! We only have 2 coffee mugs, one good one and one that you have to be careful with. I get the good one that the lid screws onto because I ride the bus. If you have never had to ride a bus well than good for you! Sudden stops, people cramming on the bus and knocking you with their book bags, lead foots, hard brakers, etc. are not good for hot coffee drinkers. I haven't encountered to many good bus drivers! I could write on and on about how much I hate taking the bus! So I get the good coffee mug to avoid spills. Anyways, the other coffee mug just has a regular lid. You have to hang onto the lid and mug when you take drinks or it may pop off. I speak from experience which I will get to in a minute. I warned Phill about this. So this morning he puts the mug in the cup holder in our car. The cup doesn't quite fit due to the handle being in the way. So he's driving and goes to turn and all of a sudden his butt is wet and burning! He is wearing khakis! He is less than a mile from work and already late! He goes into work with a brown & wet butt!! Poor guy! Not the best way to start your morning with Folgers on your butt!! Come to think of it, the good coffee mug I use HE got from work! How ironic!

My mishaps with the not so good coffee mug:

Before I got the good coffee mug I would use this. I was running for the bus one day trying to get to work. Can you see where this is going? I make it to the bus, swipe my buss pass and turn to find a seat. Someone has their bag sticking out into the aisle. I was trying to put my bus pass away and carrying coffee so I of course didn't see it. I trip, fall onto my knees, and spill coffee all over myself and the aisle! I even managed to rip a hole in the knee of my pant leg! BAD DAY THAT WAS! That's not all though. I brought the mug to church with me! We are up singing and worshiping and I take a sip WITHOUT holding the lid in place. Coffee goes all down the front of my WHITE shirt! AAAHH! Phill can't contain his laughter but does let me borrow his fleece jacket to wear for the rest of the service. By the way Sam, thanks for that WONDERFUL coffee mug! Well it's about quittin' time. More on my adventures later this week.

Weekend Summary

Well the weekend is over and I'm back to the weekly grind :( I didn't do a whole lot this weekend but as always it was eventful. Phillip and I went shopping on Saturday to take a few returns back and hopefully buy a vacuum. Our house hasn't been vacuumed in about 4 months (no I'm not exaggerating, probably underestimating). DO NOT TELL MY MOTHER! She is a clean freak and would probably hop in her car along with her rixpensive Dyson to come save me from my dirty carpet! I have allergies so this is a bad thing! Now, we got A LOT of gift cards for our wedding presents. Some from Kohl's, Wal-Mart, & Target but the most from Target. The plan this weekend was to buy a vacuum from Target. I carry all the gift cards with me in my purse in case we decide we would like to make a "house" purchase at a moments notice. So we are in the mall buying bedroom curtains and taking back a shirt I don't like. We get all that done when I reach for my cell phone to check the time. The cell phone was tucked in with the gift cards. THE POCKET IS EMPTY!! I FREAK OUT! "Phill there all gone, the money, my cell phone, EVERYTHING!" Followed by frantically searching my purse and emptying it out in men's clothing while beginning to have a melt down. This is in Herberger's by the way. My search comes up empty handed so I run back to the counter where I returned my shirt hoping I dropped them. NOTHING. Phill is madly following me b/c by this point I'm running through the store like a mad woman. Next, off to JcPenny where we purchased our curtains. I'm literally running through the mall by now! I probably looked crazy to all the shoppers, and take note that this was a Saturday so I'm knocking into people on my way. Poor Phill, I left him in the dust! Get to JcPenny and no luck! Phill comes in and finds me and demands the car keys. He's about had enough of his crazy wife at this point. I hand them over and the tears start to flow. I slowly follow him out to the car and there in the back seat are the gift cards and my phone:) He is more leveled headed than me and figured I dropped them in the car. If only I could listen to him before freaking out I would save myself a lot of stress. I had in fact dropped them in the car while leaning over to pick up my return bag. I shed some tears in the backseat, he hugged me and made me feel better, and we were on our way for more shopping fun! By the time we get to Target we are both in sour moods from the gift card extravaganza that we decide to call it a day and return to our dirty apartment without a vacuum. We both are the types of people that like to look up countless reviews before we settle and I have yet to find a "great" vacuum per people's reviews anyway. Dyson's get good reviews but the gift cards sadly don't add up $450. We did however buy a dust buster from Wal-Mart. Maybe I can talk Phill into just vacuuming the whole apartment with that?!?

What else happened this weekend? Phill & I came home on Friday night and slept from 5-8 and then I returned to bed at 10:30 and slept until 10:30 Saturday morning! I must have been tired?

I went to the doctor last week and she told me I need to cut milk out of my diet for a week and then slowly add it in the following week. I'm supposed to keep a food diary during the two weeks to find out my triggers. This is all to help my gastrointestinal issues. CUT MILK OUT OF MY DIET!?! Have you met me? Cereal is a food group for me! I could eat it all day everyday! However, I told her I would make an effort starting Monday. Well today is Monday and so far I've had coffee with creamer in it and a bagel with yummy cream cheese. I foresee procrastinating this task as well!

Lastly today, my sister Sam recently told me about this website-http://flylady.com
It gives you ideas for making your life less hectic. Small steps to putting your house together and keeping it that way. One of the tasks is trying to make your bed everyday. So I've been trying to do this b/c when I walk into my bedroom it does make me feel better having a made bed. I'm not so good at it though. Does it count if the bed doesn't get made until 6:30pm? Another piece of advice I'm trying from the website is preparing for tomorrow the night before by setting my clothes out, getting my lunch ready, etc. I am chronically late these days so I need all the help I can get. I'm not sure where I inherited this chronic lateness for my mother is always AT LEAST 15 minutes early to everything and always has been. She gets so irritated when I come home and make her late for things. So in an effort to get to work on time this morning I laid out my clothes, got my lunch ready and packed, and set my coffee maker to start at 7am. Everything was going as planned, I was on time and ready to go. We head out the door and get in the car when I realize, I have no idea where my bus pass is? I ride the city bus to work everyday b/c Phill & I share one car, a bus doesn't go to his work, and parking on the university campus where I work is very costly. So not being able to find my bus pass threw a wrench in things. Phill decides he will take me to work today and hopefully my bus pass is sitting at work. We pull out of the garage and I realize I have forgotten my coffee all nicely prepared with yummy cinnamon bun creamer and a few heaping spoonfuls of sugar. As I was debating running back inside the radio guy says "How can you forget to put your wedding ring on" Uh, Phill did! So, it's decided, I shall go back inside to grab my coffee and Phill's wedding ring. So instead of getting out of the house at 7:30, it is now 7:42. Ugh!! I tried! The sad thing is, when I got to work my bus pass was indeed not here. I also realized I lost my office keys that also have my apartment keys on them. What is with me this weekend!?! My only hope is both my bus pass and keys are in the coat I wore on Friday. Otherwise it's going to be a week of replacing things :(

I've decided to start blogging!

Hello blogger world! My name is Calie and I'm so excited to get to know you. After months of contemplating starting a blog, I now officially have a page! Don't know if I'll be any good at this but here goes nothing! For my first post I figured I would just put some facts up about me to help you get to know me better:

  • I am 25 years old and live in Minnesota with my husband Phillip. We were married October 11, 2008 but have been together for nearly 8 years!
  • We are both originally from southeast Iowa and miss our families and Iowa very much. We hope to someday move back there and start a family. We have been in Minnesota though for 4 years and do like living up here. We finally found a decent apartment-you know one where things get fixed, no noisy neighbors who think it's cool to run on a treadmill at all hours of the day and night in the apartment above you (seriously sounds like an elephant is coming through the ceiling), no neighbors who deal drugs, beat each other up, etc. It's nice!
  • I have 2 sisters, 1 brother, and 6 nieces and nephews (a set of twins even)! I love my family more than anything! Phill & I go home often to see them. Phill has 3 sisters (a set of twins) and 4 nephews, not nieces. He swears we will have all girls! He is the youngest child and boy does it show at times!! hehe
  • I am a chronic procrastinator. We've been married almost a month and I have yet to finish my thank-you cards. Okay, really I have barely even started! I've completely maybe a handful and that was from bridal shower gifts. I dread having to do thank-you's. I would pay someone to do them for me. Any takers?
  • Yes, I really have asked my blog name's question before! Multiple times as I have forgotten more than once. If you haven't guessed, I am blonde! My good cousin-in-law Luke had the joy of explaining the answer to me a couple of years ago!
  • I love nerds blizzards!!
  • I bowl on a bowling league on Tuesday nights with my hubby. This is my second year and I still suck! Phill's whole family bowls and they finally cracked me a couple of years ago. His nephew Dylan who is 10 can usually beat me in the game :( But, I do have a really pretty bowling bag that is purple and pretty purplish bowling shoes. So, at least I suck in style!
Okay well enough about me today! Hope I didn't bore you too much. Thanks for reading my first blog!
