Not Me Monday

So I have been reading another blog http://www.mycharmingkids.net for a little while now. She is a mother of 4 and is very funny and real. She has an amazing story about her 4th child who is truly a miracle. Go read all about him! Every Monday she does a blog titled Not Me Monday. A way of being fearlessly honest about your week by covering it up with not me's and trying to look all innocent. So here's my first attempt at a Not Me Monday:

I did not put up my Christmas tree already last week, before Thanksgiving. I also did not have to read the instructions on how to put it together.

This weekend on our way to Phill's sisters I did not get confused in a roundabout and make the driver behind me very angry. Not me. I do not hate those awesome "supposedly" safer intersections. grrr.

I also did not wake up and startle my sleeping husband in the passenger seat by angrily yelling at drivers to GET OUT of the fast lane! No way, not me. I am a calm and sensible driver with absolutely NO road rage!

While at Phill's sisters for our annual pre-Thanksgiving bowling tournament, I most certainly did not bowl a 105 TWICE! No way, I bowl way better than that!

Lastnight, on our way home, I did not scream at the car (Phill) for Taco Bell putting lettuce on my tacos when I asked for no lettuce. The guy even repeated our order back to us and they still messed it up! And they most certainly did not put lettuce on it again when I took it back in for them to re-do. I most certainly did not tell Phill how horrible Taco Bell is and vow to never eat there again. I will not be eating there this Wednesday on our way back to Iowa for Thanksgiving! hehe

Lastly, this one is about Phill b/c it was so hilarious not to write about it. Phill did not slam full force into the door of a Kum & Go TWICE by failing to read the sign on the door that said PULL! He did not try one door and think it was broke and go to the next door doing the exact same thing again. I did not try and spit out in between doors "It says pull" but couldn't get it out b/c of all my laughter.

There was my first attempt. Go over to www.mycharmingkids.net and see what other people did not do this week! Have a great one!

Tired Tuesday

So, I really do mean to blog more but I guess my life is pretty boring as of late. Plus, last week was a pretty crappy week. I had crazy pains in my legs and was super tired. I did finally figure out the culprit to my ailments though and have stopped taking the med. I was on that was causing all of it. This week I am almost pain free! The weekend was awesome though! We FINALLY bought a vacuum! The Bissell Healthy Home Vacuum. And since we bought this particular vacuum from Target we got a $50 gift card! Our apartment was DISGUSTING!! Phill vacuumed it 5 TIMES and it's still picking stuff up! It is bagless and watching all that nastiness swirl around was gross. He had to empty the canister several times and tell me what he saw in it too! Thanks honey! Did I mention how amazing my husband is? He gained MAJOR bonus points this weekend:

-He vacuumed our apartment 5 times with the new vacuum between Saturday & Sunday. We got home with it and he immediately put it together and went to work. I didn't even ask! He may have been just as excited about a new vacuum as my mom got when she got a Dyson! He was so cute!
-Sunday he was trying to get stains out of our carpet with the good ol' Woolite and saw more crap accumulating by the floor boards. He grabbed the vacuum and was off again!
-He put up my new curtain rod and curtains which I love. Now instead of a comforter for our curtains we have actual pretty curtains!
-He made a yummy supper for us Sunday night. Cajun chicken, friend potatoes, and corn!
-He gave me a back massage with lotion on Friday night because I still felt crappy.

I love him lots! All of these things I didn't even ask him to do! While he was vacuuming on Saturday he let me go and spend money at Maurices! Okay, Maurices is my weakness. I LOVE that store. I could spend all day in that store and my whole bank account. My sister called on Saturday to tell me she had went to Maurices and what she got, etc. I HAD to go right? I did get a good deal though. I had a 20% off card and my punch card was full so that was an additional $10 off. I practically got one free shirt! Though, Maurices is way more fun when I'm with my sister Sam. She also has a Maurices weakness. We know almost all the ladies that work there at the one in Iowa where she lives. One sales girl in particular knows our tastes very well. We will go in and pick a few things out, go into the dressing room and start trying on. Within a few minutes the sales girl is throwing heaps of clothes over to us to also try on. Those are the times we cannot get out of that store for less than $70 a piece, know matter how many coupons we may have! Then we go home and have a fashion show for our mother. When she asks us how much each item was, we knock it down at least $5 or $10!! hehe I miss fashion shows:( I also miss shopping from my sisters closet :( Living far away sure does stink sometimes.

This week has been pretty uneventful so far. Our morning was less than perfect. Phill started drinking coffee all of a sudden which I think is the cutest! I now make coffee for the both of us every morning. We both really like cinnamon bun creamer! We only have 2 coffee mugs, one good one and one that you have to be careful with. I get the good one that the lid screws onto because I ride the bus. If you have never had to ride a bus well than good for you! Sudden stops, people cramming on the bus and knocking you with their book bags, lead foots, hard brakers, etc. are not good for hot coffee drinkers. I haven't encountered to many good bus drivers! I could write on and on about how much I hate taking the bus! So I get the good coffee mug to avoid spills. Anyways, the other coffee mug just has a regular lid. You have to hang onto the lid and mug when you take drinks or it may pop off. I speak from experience which I will get to in a minute. I warned Phill about this. So this morning he puts the mug in the cup holder in our car. The cup doesn't quite fit due to the handle being in the way. So he's driving and goes to turn and all of a sudden his butt is wet and burning! He is wearing khakis! He is less than a mile from work and already late! He goes into work with a brown & wet butt!! Poor guy! Not the best way to start your morning with Folgers on your butt!! Come to think of it, the good coffee mug I use HE got from work! How ironic!

My mishaps with the not so good coffee mug:

Before I got the good coffee mug I would use this. I was running for the bus one day trying to get to work. Can you see where this is going? I make it to the bus, swipe my buss pass and turn to find a seat. Someone has their bag sticking out into the aisle. I was trying to put my bus pass away and carrying coffee so I of course didn't see it. I trip, fall onto my knees, and spill coffee all over myself and the aisle! I even managed to rip a hole in the knee of my pant leg! BAD DAY THAT WAS! That's not all though. I brought the mug to church with me! We are up singing and worshiping and I take a sip WITHOUT holding the lid in place. Coffee goes all down the front of my WHITE shirt! AAAHH! Phill can't contain his laughter but does let me borrow his fleece jacket to wear for the rest of the service. By the way Sam, thanks for that WONDERFUL coffee mug! Well it's about quittin' time. More on my adventures later this week.

Weekend Summary

Well the weekend is over and I'm back to the weekly grind :( I didn't do a whole lot this weekend but as always it was eventful. Phillip and I went shopping on Saturday to take a few returns back and hopefully buy a vacuum. Our house hasn't been vacuumed in about 4 months (no I'm not exaggerating, probably underestimating). DO NOT TELL MY MOTHER! She is a clean freak and would probably hop in her car along with her rixpensive Dyson to come save me from my dirty carpet! I have allergies so this is a bad thing! Now, we got A LOT of gift cards for our wedding presents. Some from Kohl's, Wal-Mart, & Target but the most from Target. The plan this weekend was to buy a vacuum from Target. I carry all the gift cards with me in my purse in case we decide we would like to make a "house" purchase at a moments notice. So we are in the mall buying bedroom curtains and taking back a shirt I don't like. We get all that done when I reach for my cell phone to check the time. The cell phone was tucked in with the gift cards. THE POCKET IS EMPTY!! I FREAK OUT! "Phill there all gone, the money, my cell phone, EVERYTHING!" Followed by frantically searching my purse and emptying it out in men's clothing while beginning to have a melt down. This is in Herberger's by the way. My search comes up empty handed so I run back to the counter where I returned my shirt hoping I dropped them. NOTHING. Phill is madly following me b/c by this point I'm running through the store like a mad woman. Next, off to JcPenny where we purchased our curtains. I'm literally running through the mall by now! I probably looked crazy to all the shoppers, and take note that this was a Saturday so I'm knocking into people on my way. Poor Phill, I left him in the dust! Get to JcPenny and no luck! Phill comes in and finds me and demands the car keys. He's about had enough of his crazy wife at this point. I hand them over and the tears start to flow. I slowly follow him out to the car and there in the back seat are the gift cards and my phone:) He is more leveled headed than me and figured I dropped them in the car. If only I could listen to him before freaking out I would save myself a lot of stress. I had in fact dropped them in the car while leaning over to pick up my return bag. I shed some tears in the backseat, he hugged me and made me feel better, and we were on our way for more shopping fun! By the time we get to Target we are both in sour moods from the gift card extravaganza that we decide to call it a day and return to our dirty apartment without a vacuum. We both are the types of people that like to look up countless reviews before we settle and I have yet to find a "great" vacuum per people's reviews anyway. Dyson's get good reviews but the gift cards sadly don't add up $450. We did however buy a dust buster from Wal-Mart. Maybe I can talk Phill into just vacuuming the whole apartment with that?!?

What else happened this weekend? Phill & I came home on Friday night and slept from 5-8 and then I returned to bed at 10:30 and slept until 10:30 Saturday morning! I must have been tired?

I went to the doctor last week and she told me I need to cut milk out of my diet for a week and then slowly add it in the following week. I'm supposed to keep a food diary during the two weeks to find out my triggers. This is all to help my gastrointestinal issues. CUT MILK OUT OF MY DIET!?! Have you met me? Cereal is a food group for me! I could eat it all day everyday! However, I told her I would make an effort starting Monday. Well today is Monday and so far I've had coffee with creamer in it and a bagel with yummy cream cheese. I foresee procrastinating this task as well!

Lastly today, my sister Sam recently told me about this website-http://flylady.com
It gives you ideas for making your life less hectic. Small steps to putting your house together and keeping it that way. One of the tasks is trying to make your bed everyday. So I've been trying to do this b/c when I walk into my bedroom it does make me feel better having a made bed. I'm not so good at it though. Does it count if the bed doesn't get made until 6:30pm? Another piece of advice I'm trying from the website is preparing for tomorrow the night before by setting my clothes out, getting my lunch ready, etc. I am chronically late these days so I need all the help I can get. I'm not sure where I inherited this chronic lateness for my mother is always AT LEAST 15 minutes early to everything and always has been. She gets so irritated when I come home and make her late for things. So in an effort to get to work on time this morning I laid out my clothes, got my lunch ready and packed, and set my coffee maker to start at 7am. Everything was going as planned, I was on time and ready to go. We head out the door and get in the car when I realize, I have no idea where my bus pass is? I ride the city bus to work everyday b/c Phill & I share one car, a bus doesn't go to his work, and parking on the university campus where I work is very costly. So not being able to find my bus pass threw a wrench in things. Phill decides he will take me to work today and hopefully my bus pass is sitting at work. We pull out of the garage and I realize I have forgotten my coffee all nicely prepared with yummy cinnamon bun creamer and a few heaping spoonfuls of sugar. As I was debating running back inside the radio guy says "How can you forget to put your wedding ring on" Uh, Phill did! So, it's decided, I shall go back inside to grab my coffee and Phill's wedding ring. So instead of getting out of the house at 7:30, it is now 7:42. Ugh!! I tried! The sad thing is, when I got to work my bus pass was indeed not here. I also realized I lost my office keys that also have my apartment keys on them. What is with me this weekend!?! My only hope is both my bus pass and keys are in the coat I wore on Friday. Otherwise it's going to be a week of replacing things :(

I've decided to start blogging!

Hello blogger world! My name is Calie and I'm so excited to get to know you. After months of contemplating starting a blog, I now officially have a page! Don't know if I'll be any good at this but here goes nothing! For my first post I figured I would just put some facts up about me to help you get to know me better:

  • I am 25 years old and live in Minnesota with my husband Phillip. We were married October 11, 2008 but have been together for nearly 8 years!
  • We are both originally from southeast Iowa and miss our families and Iowa very much. We hope to someday move back there and start a family. We have been in Minnesota though for 4 years and do like living up here. We finally found a decent apartment-you know one where things get fixed, no noisy neighbors who think it's cool to run on a treadmill at all hours of the day and night in the apartment above you (seriously sounds like an elephant is coming through the ceiling), no neighbors who deal drugs, beat each other up, etc. It's nice!
  • I have 2 sisters, 1 brother, and 6 nieces and nephews (a set of twins even)! I love my family more than anything! Phill & I go home often to see them. Phill has 3 sisters (a set of twins) and 4 nephews, not nieces. He swears we will have all girls! He is the youngest child and boy does it show at times!! hehe
  • I am a chronic procrastinator. We've been married almost a month and I have yet to finish my thank-you cards. Okay, really I have barely even started! I've completely maybe a handful and that was from bridal shower gifts. I dread having to do thank-you's. I would pay someone to do them for me. Any takers?
  • Yes, I really have asked my blog name's question before! Multiple times as I have forgotten more than once. If you haven't guessed, I am blonde! My good cousin-in-law Luke had the joy of explaining the answer to me a couple of years ago!
  • I love nerds blizzards!!
  • I bowl on a bowling league on Tuesday nights with my hubby. This is my second year and I still suck! Phill's whole family bowls and they finally cracked me a couple of years ago. His nephew Dylan who is 10 can usually beat me in the game :( But, I do have a really pretty bowling bag that is purple and pretty purplish bowling shoes. So, at least I suck in style!
Okay well enough about me today! Hope I didn't bore you too much. Thanks for reading my first blog!
